It takes courage to live with the full understanding that life is uncertain. We can organize, plan, and stash. But life still happens. This can be an overwhelming realization, particularly when we are faced with global threat such as this pandemic.
How do we combat the fear that comes with uncertainty? There are so many approaches. The one that I have found so helpful in my own life and in the lives of my clients is being present in this moment.
We are a culture constantly stuck in the past or projecting into the future. If we use this present moment as a time to pay attention to our breathing, the sounds arounds us, and what we see, we can become present. By doing this, we notice something. In this moment, we are okay. Our mind will tell us to jump to the worries of the next moment. But we can gently come back to this one, and notice..for now, we are still okay.
